Ellen M. Macarell

Ellen M. Macarell, 83 of Palmer Twp. PA, passed away on Friday, May 11th, 2018 at St. Lukes Hospital Anderson Campus. She was the wife of John D. Macarell.

Born in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Edna M. (Brown) O’Leary. She had been a resident of Palmer Twp. since 2005. She was a graduate of Charles E. Gorton High School, Yonkers, NY and the Katharine Gibbs School in NY City.

She was retired from Monroe Systems for Business where she had been employed as assistant to the President and CFO in Morris Plains, NJ.

She was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church of Palmer Twp., PA

In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Leslie Ann (Macarell) and her husband Christopher R. Blakely of Newton, NJ; daughter in-law Gailann (Hastings) Macarell; two brothers, John P. O’Leary of Briarcliff Manor, NY; Pierce J. O’Leary of Tehachapi, CA; one sister; Edith M. Lent of Williamsburg, VA; three grandsons, Brian Patrick Macarell, Benjamin James Macarell, Christian Joseph Blakely and twelve nieces and nephews. Two sons James Joseph and John David, Jr; a brother, Joseph C. O’Leary; and two sisters, Elizabeth M. Nardecchia and Edna M. O’Leary, preceded her in death.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday, May 16th 2018 at 10:30am-11:30am in Morello Funeral Home Inc. 3720 Nicholas St. Palmer Twp., PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in the chapel of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church 4049 Hartley Avenue Palmer, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jane’s Church. Abiding with her wishes, cremation will take place and the interment of her ashes will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers, NY at the convenience of the family.
