Joseph Melhem, Jr. of Forks Township, passed to his eternal reward the morning of Sunday, January 7, 2018, in his home. He was 61 years old. He was born on March 19, 1956 in Phillipsburg, NJ and is the son of Jennie (Tooma) Melhem and the late Joseph Melhem, Sr.

Joseph was the owner and operator of 25th Street Auto Sales in Easton. He was an entrepreneur and responsible for many other businesses throughout his life. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1974, and he attended Monmouth University in New Jersey. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Easton and was a greatly loved and respected member of the Lebanese community. He had a passion for golf. He was very determined at succeeding in all tasks. He enjoyed traveling around the world, and what he loved doing most in life was being with his family.

Joseph is survived by his mother, Jennie Melhem, who he adored and spoke to daily. Joseph also leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Joumana El Kaddis Melhem, who was his queen, friend, and confidant, and his beautiful and loving children, Joseph III, Anthony, Jennie and Nadima, who were always his pride and joy and made his life worth living. He is also survived by his sisters, Nadima Sekela of Glen Gardner, NJ, Mary Mangino, her husband, Michael, of Palmer Township, and brother Edward Melhem of Center Valley, PA; sisters-in-law, Saideh Jabbour and her husband George of Forks Township, Suzanna Farhat and her husband Frank of Palmer Township, Ramona Youssef and her husband Sarkis in Lebanon, brothers-in-law Raymond El Kaddis and wife Eva in Lebanon, and Mehesen El Kaddis and wife Mirna in Lebanon. He is also survived by his uncle, Melhem Melhem of Easton, and aunts, Josie Koury and Cheffie Koury of Easton and Sue Olson of Wind Gap, as well as many nieces and nephews cousins locally, in Lebanon, and in Australia. Joseph was an extremely loving father, husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had an infectious laugh, a great sense of humor, and he was truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed by all those who love him, both near and far.

In addition to Joseph’s late father, Joseph Melhem, Sr., he is predeceased by his uncles, Izzat Melhem and Chefiq Melhem, and aunt, Ida Fortunato, and a brother-in-law George Sekela.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm with Prayer of the Incense at 8:15 pm in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4th and Ferry Streets, Easton, PA. An additional calling hour will be held on Thursday from 8:15 am to 9:15 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 am in the church. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp.
