Dr. Om P. Chugh, 84, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at the home of his son in Easton, PA.
Dr. Om Chugh was born in Dera Ghazi Khan, India. He was the oldest son of late Uttam Chand and Chimni Devi (Gandhi) Chugh.
Dr. Om was the husband of Sawraj (Manocha) Chugh with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage last May 5th.
Dr. Om held multiple Master Degrees and a Doctorate in Ballistics and Applied Mathematics that he received from the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India. He was the former Director of Forensic Sciences for the Government of India until he retired in 1991, then went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Education when he moved to New York after his retirement in India. He was a former mathematics professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Queensborough Community College at The City University of New York (CUNY) until his retirement in 2014.
Dr. Om was a member of several professional organizations within his field and penned over 100 research publications, which he presented at many international conferences. He was also cited in Who’s Who in America.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Om is survived by his two sons, Jitander Chugh and wife Dr. Ranjini Chugh; Kul Chugh and wife Kiran Chugh; a daughter, Kirti (Rama) Sachdeva and husband Mahesh Sachdeva; five grandchildren, Radhika and husband Aneil, Jatin and wife Ekta, Ruchica, Aman, and Isha; three sisters, Nihali Dureja, Kaushalya Chaudhary, Krishna Bhuteja; and two brothers, Narinder Chugh and Amar Chugh. He is preceded in death by a sister, Shanti Mehta.
Services will be held on Saturday January 6, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) with cremation to follow.
