Obituary

Name A. Gene Febbo, 81, husband of Mary (Musumeci) Febbo, of Bethlehem Township, PA passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Easton Hospital. Born: Born on June 30, 1928 in Bangor, he was the son of the late Erminio and Rose (Buzzuto) Febbo. Personal: Gene and his beloved Mary celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on April 18, 2009. Gene and Mary, whose love for one another never wavered, renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary. The renewal ceremony was at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, of Easton, the same church where they were married in 1948. Gene attended Bangor High School and enlisted in the U.S. Maritime Service (Merchant Marines) as a 17-year-old to serve his country and to see the world. In 1945, he received his seaman training at the U.S. Maritime Service Training Station, Sheepshead Bay, N.Y., and was assigned to the tanker SS Black Hills, which shuttled fuel oil between South America and Europe. After his time in the service, he met and married Mary and later started Deal Products, Inc., an Easton manufacturer of steel scaffolding. Mary and brother-in-law Hap Piagesi helped Gene build the scaffolding business into a thriving enterprise before they sold it. Gene was subsequently involved in other business ventures, including a real estate partnership with his two sons Gary and Jeffrey, both of Bethlehem Township. Among his many talents, Gene was a gardener and a wine maker, but his greatest accomplishment in life was being a devoted husband and father. He truly had a wonderful life, touching many people along the way with his good humor and generosity. Memberships: He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Survivors: In addition to his wife and sons, Gene is survived by twin grandchildren, Paul and Caroline Febbo, and a daughter-in-law Leeann Febbo. He also is survived by two sisters, Margaret Zito of Easton, Carmel Ninno of Roseto, and four brothers; James Sr. of Pen Argyl, George Sr. of Belfast, Joseph of Easton, Daniel of Wind Gap, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Services: Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm and Monday 8:15 am until 9:15 am in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St., Palmer Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 9th and Lehigh Streets in Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
