Alberta Koehler Rodenbough, 89, of Leawood, Kansas, and formerly of Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away Sept. 26 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Alberta will always be remembered as a kind, gracious and forgiving woman, qualities that she exhibited throughout her final days.
Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1928, Alberta graduated from Wilson High School in 1947. Following graduation she worked at Pomeroy's Department Store and Easton National Bank & Trust where she met her future husband, Frank Rodenbough. They were married for 45 years. After her children were in school, she worked for many years at Williams Restaurant.
For most of her life, Alberta was an active volunteer. She loved working with children and lent her time and talents to a number of organizations, including the Girl Scouts, Easton High School Band Boosters and the Crayola Factory. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersville until moving to Kansas in 2014. She loved baking pies at the church and attending the annual ham suppers. Through her involvement at St. John's, she delivered Meals on Wheels and taught Sunday School.
Alberta will be deeply missed and she is survived by her children, Diane Rodenbough of Easton; and Dean Rodenbough and his wife, Danielle, of Leawood; one grandson, Rick Reinard and his wife, Barbie, of Seattle, Washington; a sister-in-law Doris Koehler, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, and three siblings, Roy Koehler and wife ,Lillie; Mary Bittenbender and husband, Ray; and Earl Koehler.
Calling hours will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at Morello Funeral Home, 3720 Nicholas Street in Palmer Township. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Farmersville. A visitation at the church will also be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday morning before the funeral.
