Obituary

Alexander Lasorsa (Big Al and Pop), of Palmer Township, passed away on April 30, 2020 at Country Meadows in Bethlehem, PA. Born in Scranton in 1927, he resided in High Bridge, NJ for 35 years before moving to Palmer Township in 1993. Alex played football at Temple University and graduated from Seton Hall University in 1951. Alex spent his career serving at youth and correctional facilities for 35 years at Mountainview Correctional Center, and also served as assistant director at Morris County Youth Center and Warren Acres Juvenile Detention Center in Warren County, NJ.

The son of the late Louis LaSorsa and Mary Capozzi LaSorsa. Alex was preceded in death by his wife and high school sweetheart Elizabeth Burke and his older sister Angela Caffrey. Alex is survived by his sister Theresa Byrne of Saddlebrook, NJ. Alex will be forever loved by his five daughters: Mary Heryla, and her husband Steve of Easton, PA; Kathleen Sutton and her husband Mike of Wilson Borough, PA; Ann Gunther and her husband John of Easton, PA; Mildred MacQueen and her husband Larry of Pottersville, NJ; Christine Crossley and her husband Rick of Lake Arial, PA. His greatest legacy includes his grandchildren Alexa Heryla, Amanda Pyne (Heryla), Christopher Sutton, Rebecca Gibson (Sutton), Phillip Gunther, Matthew Gunther, Drew MacQueen, Kate Monaghan (MacQueen), Michael Crossley, Daniel Crossley, and Elizabeth Crossley. Big Pop was blessed to have 12 great grandchildren.

Alex served his country as a Navy veteran in WWII and was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and Saint Anthony's Church, DAV- Post 9, and American Legion. He enjoyed making a big splash every week at the Easton YMCA!

Alex was a chess master. He devoted many years of service with students at Palmer Elementary and St Jane's Elementary. Depending on the season, Pop could be found leading cheers from the stands at his grandchildren's athletic events, all the way from youth to college level and even for the coaches. "Big Al" will be fondly remembered by his loved ones and many friends. To be known by him was to be loved by him.
