Alphonse Ralph (“Big Al”) Bellafatto, 89, of Easton, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at St. Luke’s Warren Hospital. Born on July 24, 1936 in Orange NJ, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Anna (DeGoria) Bellafatto.
A longtime local, he graduated from Easton Area High School in 1956 where he participated in track and field including javelin. He had a passion for music and was a drummer in the band. After graduation, he proudly served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Airforce. At the end of his tour of duty, he returned first to New Jersey and then, in 1964, to Easton to raise his family and begin his career as a police officer for the City of Easton where he would serve for 25 years, as a patrolman, juvenile officer and Court Liaison officer. After he retired from the police force, he went on to serve as a dispatcher for Northampton County 911 and a security officer with the Easton Area School District at Easton High School and Forks Elementary. His entire life has been marked by his devotion to his country, his community, and to his family.
He was a loyal parishioner of St Anthony of Padua church and regularly attended 4:30 mass on Saturdays. He was a president of the Easton Police Athletic League (PAL) and a member of the Lions Club. His love of music led him to perform and compete around the country and the world with the Brothers in Harmony Barbershop Chorus for many years. In his free time, he could be found tinkering with electronics, painting, doing ceramics or crossword puzzles, or making pancakes for his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Alphonse is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ann (Dzuba) Bellafatto; son, Ralph Bellafatto and his wife, Lois Hefferle of Easton; daughter, Barbara Bellafatto and her husband, Thomas Pugliese of Berkeley Heights New Jersey; grandchildren, Abigail Bellafatto and her husband, Matthew Timlin of Easton; Alec Bellafatto of Philadelphia; Amanda Bellafatto of Colorado; Alexis Pugliese of California; Thomas Pugliese of Berkeley Heights; his great-grandchild, Finn Timlin; brother-in-law, Charles Dzuba; and nieces and nephews as well as his devoted dog Bella. His many stories will be remembered and cherished forever by those he leaves behind.
