Obituary

André Joseph Phillip Ouellet, 72, of Bethlehem, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Born in Passaic, NJ, he was the son of the late André and Ada (Glover) Ouellet.

André, affectionately known to his family as Phil, grew up in Fair Lawn, NJ. He was a gifted young hockey player, earning a high school scholarship. At sixteen, he "caught a ride" to Woodstock, where his lifelong love of music was born.

André enlisted in the United States Navy in 1970 and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Underwater Demolition Team, the elite Navy frogmen. Following his military service, André joined the Merchant Marines where he was able to travel the world. He later worked as a pipefitter at the Lyons VA Hospital. He retired in 2012 after twenty-five years of service to the Federal Government.

André loved watching all kinds of sports. He was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Arsenal Football Club, and remained ever faithful to his Montreal Canadiens.

For many years, André was an avid fly fisherman who enjoyed teaching fly-tying classes and volunteering with Trout Unlimited. He found peace in the stream, and especially loved spending time fishing in Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. He was always reading, and did his crossword puzzles in pen. Though his most favorite thing to do was spending time with his grandchildren, the greatest joy of his life.

André had a generous heart and always tried to take care of those around him—whether they wanted him to or not. He will be remembered fondly for his boisterous laugh and his deep love of family.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Michael Anastasiou; his grandchildren, Luke, Ella, and Jack Anastasiou; and his former wife, Kathleen Bonnici. He is also survived by his sisters, Dona-Marie Triandafilou, Carole Rossi, Angela Giszack, and Yvonne Zajaceskowski; his brother, John Ouellet; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Campion and Janet Widmayer; brothers-in-law, David Nelson and Jim Bonnici; his godsons, Anton Nelson and Alexander Baile; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Ouellet.

Memorial contributions in André's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516, or the Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Rd., Suite 100, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Arrangements are entrusted to Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com
