Obituary

Name: Anna Louisa Reganis, 89 of Easton, PA passed away Wednesday April 29, 2009 in St. Francis Hospital, Trenton, NJ where she was a patient since April 23rd.

Born: She was born in Hostetter, PA on January 12, 1920 to Elena Rosa Ricci Tinari and Fiorentino Tinari.

Personal: Anna grew up in Girardville, PA, a coal miners daughter. In 1939 Anna graduated from Girardville High School where she was a member of the girls basketball team, the Girardville Gingers and was the business manager on the staff of the school newspaper The Blue Ace. As a teenager she worked in a grocery store where she found a tarantula in the bananas which she caught in a jar and gave to her biology teacher. Her interest in science and a scholarship led her to attend Jefferson College of Nursing in Philadelphia where she graduated in 1941. Anna worked as an operating room nurse at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

On June 30, 1945 Anna married her high school friend surgeon Dr. John Clement Reganis, also of Girardville and a graduate of Jefferson Medical College. Anna and John were married for 62 years. John Clement died July 8, 2007.

Anna and John resided in Philadelphia, PA until 1946 when the couple moved to New Orleans, LA where John was stationed as an Army doctor and Anna worked as a nurse at the Touro Infirmary. Anna was the attending nurse for plastic surgeon Dr. Neil Owens. In 1949 the couple resided in Sayre, PA before moving to Easton, PA in 1953.

Anna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Most important in her life was the time spent with her family and friends. She especially loved cooking and baking for her family for birthday and holiday celebrations. Her kitchen was a gathering place for friends of all ages for Italians and Lithuanian meals and Annas apple pie. She enjoyed her home in the country, her roses, vegetable garden, fruit trees, grapes and her beloved friends down the hill.

She looked forward to playing bridge Thursday nights with the Ever-Eating Bridge Club of Wilson Borough and Saturday night pinochle with her friends. She had fond memories of two cross-country road trips exploring the national parks with her family, a trip to Europe with friends and August vacations in Ocean City, NJ with those she loved.

Anna was known for her positive spirit, courage, compassion and sense of humor. Having fought multiple sclerosis for 68 years, she was a true inspiration to all who knew her.
