Obituary

Anthony Francis Amato, 73, of Easton, PA, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. Born in Castel Di Lucio, Italy, he was the son of the late Enrico and Vincenza (Cicero) Amato. He was the co-owner and operator of Amato Brothers Construction since 1975.

Anthony served in the US Army as part of the 101 st Airborne Division from 1968-1970, earning a Bronze Medal. Once back home, he met the love of his life, Joann Marie Smereczynsky whom he married in 1975. Anthony and Joann shared 33 years of marriage before her passing on August 25, 2008.

In addition to his business, Anthony kept busy as a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Unico, Easton Catholic School Board and was a cofounder of St. Joseph's table. Never forgetting his roots, he was the president of the Castel Di Lucio Society. His loyalty to the US though, made him a lifetime member of Vietnam Veterans of America.

Anthony is survived by his sons, Anthony P. Amato and wife, Erin, of Nazareth, Rick P. Amato and wife, Kristin, of Bethlehem, Mario V. Amato and wife, Kate, of Easton; daughter, JoMarie Amato of Easton; grandchildren, Emma L. Amato, Jack Amato, Bryson Williams, Madelyn Amato, Luke Amato, Gianni Amato; sister, Josephine Cicero; brother, Natale Amato and wife, Nancy; mother-in-law, Josephine Smereczynsky; brother -in-law, William Smereczynsky and wife, Diane.

In addition to his parents and his wife Joann Amato, Anthony was predeceased by a son Mario James Amato; brother, Natale Amato; father-in-law, William Smereczynsky; brother-in-law, Francesco Cicero.

Calling hours are Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 9:15 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.). A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10:00 am in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th & Lehigh Streets Easton, PA. Entombment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Easton, PA. Contributions may be made in Anthony's name to National MS Society, 30 South 17 th Street #800 Philadelphia, PA 19103 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
