Name: Anthony L. Vannicola, Sr., 82, of Forks Twp., PA, passed away on Friday, June 22 in The Village at Sullivan Trail. Born: Anthony was born in Summit Hill, PA. He was the son of the late Louis and Christine Vannicola. Personal: Anthony was a graduate of Summit Hill High School, Class of 1947. He graduated from the PA State Police Academy in Hershey, PA in 1954. He was a PA State Trooper in the Detective Division for 31 years in Lewistown, Bethlehem, Stockertown and Easton Barracks, until 1985. He was then a Northampton County Detective in the office of the District Attorney, retiring in 2001. He also served in the US Coast Guard prior to his law enforcement career. Memberships: Anthony was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Police and the County and State Detectives Associations. Survivors: Anthony is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bette Vannicola; sons Louis A. Vannicola and wife Rene of Palmer Twp, Anthony L. Vannicola, Jr. and wife Colleen of Shawnee Mission, KS, and David D. Vannicola of Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren Anthony L. Vannicola, III and Maria N. Vannicola, children of Anthony and Colleen; and his sister Mary Kanick of Summit Hill, PA. He is preceded in death by his brother Angelo Vannicola. Services: Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 9 AM until 10 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and Lehigh St, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the church.
