Werhun
April 30, 1957 – September 19, 2022
Anthony Thomas Werhun, 65, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilkes Barre, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Romanick) Werhun. Anthony graduated from Bishop Hoban High School, class of 1975; earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Kings College and then his Doctorate in Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. He dedicated 35 years as a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine in the Emergency Department of Lehigh Valley Health Network before retiring in December, 2020.
Anthony attended St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church. Tony cherished his loving wife, Kay (Marsteller) Werhun, with whom he shared all things and took his greatest pride. Tony and Kay built a beautiful home together in Easton, PA, and traveled the world. A passionate sports fan, Tony was a proud attendee of multiple Super Bowls and World Series games while always supporting his beloved Philadelphia teams. Anthony was a man for all seasons – equally at ease in a fine art exhibit or a bowling alley. He experienced deep appreciation for music, photography, cinema, and always relishing a glass of wine with family and friends. Children adored Tony, considering him both mentor and accomplice. Of his many passions, being Grandpa was paramount.
In addition to his wife, Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony E. Werhun and wife, Laura, of Medford, NJ; sister, Susan Ott and husband, Gerard, of Berlin, MD; brother, Frank Werhun and wife, Erin, of Pittston, PA; grandchildren, Miles, Gavin, Hailey; God children, Lucas Marsteller, Megan Ott, Valerie Werhun, Michelle Bradley; and his fur babies, Grüner and Cleo.
