Arthur R. Nugent Sr.

Arthur R. Nugent Sr., 76, of Bethlehem, PA, and formerly of Rahway, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Health Network Hospice in Allentown, PA.

Arthur was born on December 19, 1947, in Newark, NJ, to the late Arthur H. and Nellie (Toler) Nugent. He attended school in Newark. He worked as a postman for the U.S. Post Office for many years. Arthur recently served as an elder in the Bethlehem Central Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, and for over 25 years as an elder in the Roselle Park Congregation in Roselle, NJ. He was a kind and loving family man, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and congregations.

While Arthur's primary focus was on helping others learn Bible truths so they could have hope for a better future, he also had many interests that he pursued in his spare time. He was a tailor, jewelry maker and specialty cake baker. He also enjoyed bowling and played at least five different musical instruments.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evangline (Arrington) Nugent of Bethlehem; sons, Arthur R. Nugent Jr. and wife, Monique, of Elizabeth, NJ, and Jonathan Nugent and wife, Andrianie, of Union, NJ; brothers, Gregory Nugent and wife, Deborah, of Covington, GA, and Tracy Nugent and his wife, Constance, of Phillipsburg, NJ; plus, a host of nieces, nephews, dear friends and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his sisters, Diane (Nugent) Wright, and Shelley Nugent-Foster Mehta.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lehigh Valley Health Network Hospice Unit for their care and loving kindness during Arthur's last days.
