No time on earth is long enough to spend with those we love or prepare us to say goodbye. Name: Barbara A. Kassis, 63, passed away on Thursday, May 17 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born: She was born on September 30, 1948, a daughter of the late Joseph P. and Jeanette Shaheen. Personal: Barbara and her husband Joseph celebrated 41 years of marriage in September. Barbara's family, friends, and her church were the center of her life. The loves of her life were her husband, daughters, and grandchildren - all of whom brought her great joy. Barbara was a woman of very strong faith and trust in God. She always enjoyed working at the church, especially at their annual Lebanese Heritage Days. Barbara will always be remembered for her good home-cooking and baking and her extremely warm and generous spirit which she shared with all who knew her. Her loss will leave a tremendous void in the lives of all whom she touched. She embraced Christianity and her life was a true example of this. Memberships: Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1966. She was employed by the Easton Area Earned Income Tax Office as a clerk many years ago. Survivors: In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Nancy Pijut and husband Craig, Jeanette Kassis, and Eva Marie Koorie and husband Ferris, all of Easton; sister Mary Ann Solomon and her husband Donald of Providence, RI; brother Pete Shaheen and his wife Trish of Easton; grandchildren Joseph and Riley Pijut, and Geneva and Zackary Koorie; nieces Krista, Janell, Jennifer and Cheryl; nephew Donald; and best friend Sanna Baurkot. Services: Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm with Prayer of the Incense at 8:00 pm at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, Fourth and Ferry Streets, Easton. An additional calling hour will be held on Saturday from 8:15 am to 9:15 am in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp.
