Name Carl R. Storms, 84 , of Palmer Twp. passed away Tuesday September 8, 2009 in Easton Hospital, Wilson Bororough, after several illnesses in 2009. He was a resident of Palmer Township for more than 55 years. Born: He was born on March 1, 1925 in Lock Haven, PA a son of the late Carl E. and Dorothy Fox Storms. Personal: Carl grew up and went to high school in Stroudsburg. Carl was an avid outdoorsman and hunted and fished the forests and streams of the Pocono Mountains. He was an expert fly fisherman and was featured in a humorous book about fly fishing, "All Fishermen are Liars: Believe it" by David Reifsnyder of Easton. Carl enlisted in the US Navy before he was 18, to serve his country in WWII. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After WWII Carl married Phyllis Taylor of Stroudsburg and moved to Easton. Carl was employed as a design engineer for the former Dixie Cup and American Can Company for 25 years and Air Products for 10 years. Carl and his wife, Phyllis, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last September. Memberships: He was a member of St. Jane Frances De Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Twp. Carl was also a member of the local VFW in Stroudsburg. Carl served the church as an usher for more than 30 years, where he was known for his smile and his buttonieres. He also was a Eucharistic Minister and visited parishioners who could not attend church. This was very important to him. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by daughters Robin Storms of Cumberland, MD and former spouse Larry Bruch of Grantville, MD; Kathy Storms of Napa, CA; 3 grandchildren Abby, Rachel, and Zachary Bruch and a great granddaughter Avabella Storms Perfetti. Services: A calling time will be held on Friday from 12:00pm until 12:30pm in St. Jane Frances De Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave. Palmer Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 12:30pm in the Churchs Chapel. Interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
