IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine Regina
Salamone
July 16, 1943 – November 2, 2022
Catherine Regina Salamone, 79, of Bethlehem Twp. passed away on November 2, 2022 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was born on July 16, 1943 into a large Italian-American family from Ozone Park in Queens, New York, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Silvis) Salamone. She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, KS, class of 1961, and also attended Avila College, Kansas City, MO.
Cathy took her passion for traveling and made a career of it, working as an international flight attendant for Trans World Airlines (TWA) for more than 30 years, during the glamorous era now known as the Golden Age of Air Travel. She was a flight attendant on TWA's last propeller airplane flight in 1967, which fully ushered in the jet age. Cathy's long tenure at TWA was in many ways the centerpiece of her life. During her travels, she would collect unique souvenirs from around the world, and give them to her family as much appreciated gifts. Back home, she was a talented artist who expressed her creative side with sketching, painting, and making holiday decorations, floral wreaths, and baskets.
She is survived by her sisters Mary Byram and husband Robert Henn, JoAnne Stimac and husband Larry, Meg McGrath and husband Dan, and brothers Joseph Salamone and wife Eddi, and John Salamone and spouse Merce Correa. Cathy loved and doted on her many nieces and nephews, and befriended many of the children in her neighborhood in Penns Farms.
