Daniel S. Dennis Finelli, 85 of Palmer Twp, PA passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 in Whitehall Manor, Whitehall, PA Born: He was born on December 26, 1924 in Roseto, PA, a son of the late Stephen D. and Josephine (DAmbrosio) Finelli. Personal: Daniel was employed as a French teacher at Philipsburg High School, retiring in 1985. He served in the US Army during World War II, as a sergeant in the European theatre, In Pattons 3rd Army during the Battle of the Bulge, where he received 5 Battle Stars for Combat in Belgium, France, and Luxemburg. Daniel was a graduate of Bangor High School class of 1942, LaFayette college class of 1946, and later attended Rutgers University for his Teachers Certificate. He was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed the Phillies and Eagles. He treasured his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Memberships: He was a member of the American Legion Post in Pen Argyl, and the NJ Education Association (NEA). Survivors: Daniel is survived by a son Stephen Finelli and wife Kelly of Palmer Twp., daughter Lenore and husband Timothy Groller of Palmer Twp., sisters Evelyn Morgan of Pen Argyl, and Dorothy Poad of Bangor, PA, and four grandchildren, Timothy and Jason Groller, Michael and Alyssa Finelli, and a great-granddaughter Ava Marie Groller. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife the former Dorothy A. Mickel, sisters Ida Finelli and Carmela Finelli, and brother Leonard Finelli. Services: Calling hours will be held Friday from 9-11 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Palmer Twp. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
