Obituary

Diane F. Keenan, 79, of Easton, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospice House surrounded by family. Born on August 1, 1945, in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Frances (Liard) Finateri. She graduated from Johnstown High School, class of 1963, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA. Years later she earned her Master of Education in Reading degree from East Stroudsburg University. She taught in the Phillipsburg School District for 25 years and  was a member of various professional organizations including PEA, NJEA, and NEA.

She was a caring and devoted teacher to hundreds of kindergarteners and first graders, as well as a caring mentor to young educators. She was a loyal friend to all and ready to help whenever needed. Diane was an avid reader and loved animals. During the summer, she always enjoyed time with her family and friends relaxing at the beach in Manasquan, NJ.

Despite her own health challenges, Diane was full of endless positivity and focused on others rather than herself. She always displayed a quiet strength and courage that was witnessed and admired by many. She was funny and creative and used her gifts to bring happiness to those around her. She was a light of kindness, compassion, and joy.

Diane was married to her loving husband of 56 years, Francis X. Keenan. She is survived by daughters, Kelly Mineo and her husband Mike; Kara Singley and her husband Marc; grandchildren, Matthew, Danny, and Julia Mineo; Finn and Allie Singley.
