Obituary

Loving husband, father, and grandfather Donald T. Cesare entered into eternity on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 73. Born February 23, 1947, Don was raised in Plainfield, NJ, and lived out his latter years enjoying well-deserved retirement in Palmer Township, PA. Don married Linda Cesare (née Schlecker) January 18 th , 1985 and they spent many happy years together making a home in North Plainfield, NJ. A devoted father, Don had two children, son Stephen Cesare, and daughter Jennifer Fleetwood (née Cesare). In August 2019, Don welcomed his granddaughter Magnolia "Nola" Dawn Fleetwood who loves him immensely.

Don attended Plainfield High School before joining the US Army and serving his country in Vietnam. At the age of 69, Don graduated from Northampton Community College in PA with an Associate's Degree in General Studies focusing in Fine Art. Don was a true patron of the arts who enjoyed all its mediums. He was always touring a museum (he knew all the greats), seeing shows on Broadway or at local theaters (he was a fine actor), and attended uncountable concerts (he had a lovely tenor). He had an uncanny talent for knowing what tickets to get, always managing to pick multi-award-winning shows and once-in-a-lifetime concerts. On weekends in recent years, he could be found enjoying outdoor concerts at the Bethlehem Steelstacks. He spent his evenings at his art desk practicing his sketching and watercolor painting. At 7pm everything paused, because it was time for Jeopardy and he had to answer every single question. Assuredly, he was almost always right. He found joy in many things: crosswords, pretending he had forgotten how to play rummy before winning, reading the news loudly to whoever was nearby.

What Don found the most joy in was his family, friends, and bringing joy to others. He had an unforgettable smile and laugh, a radiant spirit that was impossible to explain or deny, and always a sparkle in his eye. He was every bit a charmer, not soon forgotten by all he met.

Don is survived by wife Linda, son Stephen, daughter Jennifer, granddaughter Nola, his brothers Robert, Joseph, and Patrick, and sisters Diane and Nancy, as well as his cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service celebrating the life and legacy of Don will be announced and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ArtQuest.org.
