Donald R. Higgins, 71, of Plainfield Township, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side. Born on August 16, 1952 in Doylestown he was a son of the late William and Glenna Higgins. He graduated from Delaware Valley High School. Donald owned and operated his own concrete and contracting company, Donald R. Higgins Concrete. He retired after 35 years of business.

Donald was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending his time hunting. He also liked to ride his motorcycle with several friends on nice warm days. In the summer he could be found tending to his garden full of tomatoes and cucumbers. He also liked to golf and play poker. Donald will be remembered as an easy going and kind man.

He is survived by his son, Richard Gromes and his wife, Tara of Stroudsburg; daughter, Melanie Maldonado and her husband, Mario of Bushkill; four grandchildren six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Sharon A. (Heckman) Higgins in 2023.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.). Interment will follow at Riegelsville Union Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to Plainfield Township Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 568 Wind Gap, PA 1809.
