Obituary

Edward Sigmund Geosits, 84, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in his home after a battle with cancer. Born: Edward was born on December 16, 1929 in Seemsville, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Lutterschmidt) Geosits. Personal: He graduated from Northampton High School and enlisted in the US Army, where he served as a Corporal with the 37th Signal Corps in Okinawa during the Korean conflict, receiving the Army of Occupation Medal. After the service, Edward enrolled at Lafayette College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. In 1956, Edward married the former Maureen Shumar of Easton. During his professional career, he worked for Du Pont, Luria Engineering Corporation, Collins & Maxwell Construction and the Wilson Borough School District, eventually retiring from Alvin H. Butz Inc. Memberships: Edward was an active member of the Forks Township Athletic Association and volunteered countless hours coaching hundreds of children in football, baseball and basketball. He was a devout member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Survivors: Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Maureen, his daughter-in-law, Jill Geosits, son Peter and wife Laurie Geosits of Media, PA, daughter Maryann Geosits and husband Frank Baloh of Allentown, PA, grandchildren Lindsey and husband Charles Lee, Emily, Michael, Haley, Alex and Neal Geosits, Frankie and Louie Baloh and great-granddaughter, Corinne Avery Lee. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary and Rose, brothers, John, Joseph, Frankie, Alfred and his beloved son, Edward Elias Geosits. Services: Calling hours will be Wednesday 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Prayer of the Incense at 7:30 pm, an additional calling hour will be held on Thursday from 8:15 am to 9:15 am in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 4th & Ferry Streets, Easton.
