Obituary

Name: Edward P. Miller, 87, of Palmer Twp., PA, passed away peacefully with many loved ones at his side on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. Born: Edward was born in Bethlehem, PA, a son of the late Gustave and Carrie (Reinbold) Miller. Personal: Edward was married to the love of his life, the former Lee R. Pizzari for 58 years last January. He worked at Bethlehem Steel, Sheridan Machine, and Ashland Chemical. Previously, Edward entered the US Navy during World War II in June of 1943, serving aboard the Naval Destroyer USS Swanson as a Seaman First Class for 33 months. He spent 6 months in the Atlantic and Mediterranean theaters of war and the remainder of his WWII experience was in the South Pacific, where his ship and crew were awarded 5 Battle Stars. Edward enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing word puzzles, watching his favorite TV shows and sports teams including the Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State. He was very active, always running errands, doing yard work, and fixing or building all kinds of things. He never hesitated to help a friend, loved one, or even a stranger in need. Edward was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend. He fought valiantly against an aggressive form of cancer and was an inspiration to many. He is now at peace with the Lord patiently awaiting reunions with loved ones and friends in the years ahead. Memberships: Edward was a life member of Liberty Hose Co. #2 Survivors: In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his sons Brian at home, Mark and his wife Geralyn of Bethlehem; his daughter Lisa Harris and her husband Kevin of Palmer Twp.; grandsons John Embardino, Jr. of Palmer Twp., Victor Embardino of Palmer Twp., and Kyle Kasman of Bethlehem; brothers Lt. Colonel Charles A. Miller, USMC (retired) and his wife Pat of Norristown, George W. Miller and his wife Esther of Allentown, Robert A. Miller and his wife Sandy of Alexandria, VA; a sister Jane A. Fondl and her husband Paul of Bethlehem; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Lt. Bernard R. Miller, USAF, Rodney G. Miller, James H. Miller; sisters Marian Young and Alberta Martin. Services: Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and also Monday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in Morello Funeral Home Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
