Dr. Elias J. Isaac of Allentown, PA, passed away at home on Friday, April 23, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88.
Dr. Isaac was born in Bethlehem to the late Joseph and Catharine (Canone) Isaac.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary (DiLullo) and 4 of their 5 children, Dr. Peter Isaac and wife Ann of Upper Macungie Township, Joseph Isaac of Allentown, Elias Isaac II of Allentown, and Dr. Melda Isaac of Washington D.C. He was preceded in death by their daughter, Dr. Kathryn Isaac.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Peter Isaac, Anthony Isaac, and Julia Romm and his sister-in-law Maryann Isaac of Easton. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Lillian Symia, Rita Colver, and Wakeem Isaac.
Dr. Isaac graduated from Easton Catholic High School in 1950. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science before serving in the army. After his honorable discharge, he attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic medicine and received his degree in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1968. He maintained his surgical practice in Allentown for 44-years. Upon his retirement, his son Dr. Peter Isaac continued the practice his father started.
He enjoyed being physically active by playing golf and going to the fitness center at Brookside Country Club. His greatest enjoyment was reading and studying to become a better physician. The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons designated him a Fellow in recognition of his efforts to advance Osteopathic medicine and surgery.
Dr. Isaac was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church and the Cathedral of Saint Catherine of Sienna.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer of the Incense at 7:30 pm in Morello Funeral Home, 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). An additional calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the funeral home, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4 th & Ferry Streets, Easton, PA. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp. In memory of Dr. Isaac, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 55 South 4 th Street, Easton, PA 18042.
