Our Precious Mother Elizabeth "Betty" Merring, 91 (just shy of her 92nd birthday), of Forks Twp., PA, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born in West Easton, PA the daughter of Michael and Mary (Demchick) Tomko. She was a graduate of Easton Area High School, class of 1949. She was married to Thomas G. Merring with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2000. She dedicated her life to being a homemaker for her family and enjoyed working for 10 years as a cafeteria worker at Saint Philip and Saint James Catholic School in Phillipsburg, NJ from 1984- 1994.

"She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes, and that's all that ever mattered to her". In her younger years, she had an eye for decorating and enjoyed antiquing (especially with her sisters.) Betty was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, in Easton, PA and the Parent. Teacher. Association. (P.T.A.).

Betty is survived by her loving children Steven Merring, of Nazareth, T. Michael Merring and his wife Donna, of Forks Twp., Alan Merring, of Easton, Susan Sinko, of Forks Twp. and Scott Merring, of Wilson Boro., a sister Margaret Gotto, of CA, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her son-in-law James Sinko, sisters Anna Stefanovic, Mary Ciambrone, and Susan Kapral, a brother Michael Tomko Jr.

All are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy, 132 South 5th Street Easton, PA. Interment will follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Easton, PA.
