Eric Raymond Dougan, 69, of Palmer Township, PA, and formerly of Cottage Hills, Madison Co. IL, passed away on June 30, 2017, after a long fight with cancer. Born January 22, 1948, Eric was the son of the late Raymond Gettus and Alice Eldora (Foster) Dougan. Eric had several careers throughout his long life, his career started at the Alton Glassworks. He was a master welder in Illinois for the Grafton Boat Company; serving his country in his own way by shipbuilding and welding exclusively for the U.S. Army, Navy and Coast Guard river fleets. He later relocated to Bucks Co and the Lehigh Valley, PA, where he started his own fiberglass & manufacturing company, Valiant Fiberglass in Coopersburg and Williams Twp, PA. He relished the artistry that fiberglass afforded him, including fabricating the giant twin columns adorning Cinderellas Castle in Disney World (FL), restoration of antique carousel horses and creating 15 ft. nutcrackers for local businesses Christmas displays. Most recently, he shared a partnership with his loving wife in sales of therapeutic goods, advertising, website building/hosting, and years as a leading Nikken distributor. A quiet, giant of a man who rarely showed anger or cursed, he loved life fully with jokes and laughter; a curious wanderlust to see and experience everything. He was decisive, ambitious, refusing to be knocked down while daring the odds, always humble and conscientious of others. A lifelong learner, Patriot, and historian, Eric enjoyed photography, Classic Art, collecting glass & coins, Popular Mechanics, gardening, ballroom dancing with his wife Toni, travel -- especially to Civil & Revolutionary War battlegrounds, including his eagerly anticipated inclusion to the Sons of the American Revolution via his ancestor. Eric is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Antoinette Bottos-Dougan of Palmer Twp., his two sisters, Suzette Clara and husband Gary of Klamath, OR; Deborah Shawn Kain and her husband George of Jerseyville, IL, his oldest son Christopher Bunch and wife Tammy of Cottage Hills, IL, Craig Pijut and his wife Nancy of Easton, PA, Tabetha Evans and her husband Ronald of Casa Grande, Az., Michael Bottos and his wife Barbara of Ashburn, VA, Mark Bottos of Palmer Township, 4 nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St., Easton (Palmer Twp.), PA.
