Eric Michael Rute, 41, passed on Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home in Easton, PA. Eric was born in Easton, PA, a son of Linda (Willever) Cavanaugh of Easton, PA and the late Gary R. Rute. Eric was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1993 and a graduate of DeSales University, with a major in Criminal Justice. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a Philadelphia Eagles Fan. In addition to Erics mother he is survived by a daughter Chloe Rose Rute, of Whitehall, PA; step fathers David G. Strahler, of Hawley, PA and William P. Cavanaugh, of Palmer Twp., a step-mother Dottie Rute of Bethlehem, a step sister Tracy Willis and her husband Leland, of St. Johns, FL , brothers Gary R. Rute Jr and his wife Jill, of Palmer Twp., Robert R. Rute, of Easton, Scott Strahler and his wife Joelle, of Allentown, William Cavanaugh III, Bedminster, NJ, and James Pettit of Bethlehem, and Maternal grandfather: Robert H. Willever, of Easton. He is preceded in death by a brother Jason Scott Rute, and a step-sister Holly Cavanaugh. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Morello Funeral Home Inc. 3720 Nicholas St. (Palmer Twp.) Easton, PA immediately followed by a memorial service in the funeral home. Erics cremains will be interred privately at the convenience of the family.
