Eugene E. Rooney, 90, of Palmerton, PA, formerly of Easton, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. Born on June 27, 1935 in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Mulick) Rooney.

He was a New York City police sergeant for over 20 years. Eugene was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Eugene is survived by his son, Eugene M. Rooney and his wife, Evelyn of HI; daughter, Mary Rinfret of Palmerton; grandchildren, Matthew Rinfret, Casey Burger, Kathleen Coleman, Isabella Rooney, Aidan Rooney; great grandchildren, Fynn, Nora, Benjamin, and Áine.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen (Bohn) Rooney and his siblings.
