Obituary

Evan H. Pleiss Evan H. Pleiss, 87, of Palmer Twp., passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in his home. Born: Evan was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late Herman and Annie Pleiss. Personal: Evan and his wife, the former Mary Piro celebrated 64 years of marriage last December 22. He was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1943. Evan was a fireman for the City of Easton and later was employed by Northampton County in Vector Control before retiring in 1988. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. Memberships: Evan was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Palmer Twp., VFW Post 1290 in Easton, The Weston Club, and the International Association of Firefighters local 713. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Evan is survived by a son Gary Pleiss of St. Petersburg, FL; daughters Beverly Cook and husband Michael of Blairstown, NJ, Virginia Young and husband Michael of Lititz, PA; a sister Arlene Uhler of Bethlehem; grandchildren Michael Cook Jr., Mark Cook, Jessica Barker, Jeremy Cook, Jared Cook, Adam Young, Rebecca Resnick; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He is preceded in death by sisters Helen Barlieb, Edna Lieberman; and a brother George Pleiss. Services: Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am followed by a time of remembrance at 11:30 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). Interment will be private at a later time.
