Fay H. Metzgar, 83, formerly of Patrick Springs, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at New Eastwood Nursing and Rehab. Born in Plainfield, NJ she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Massar) Sopko.

Fay attended Middlesex County Vocational Technical High School and served as Secretary of her junior class. She had a kind heart and a green thumb, loved all creatures and living things, and over the years she welcomed many pets into her home. She had a special way of noticing beauty in the simple everyday things and enjoyed caring for her home garden including a small orchard with blueberries, grapes, figs, and more. Fay loved DIY projects and making art, working closely with wood lathe artist Theodore de Groot. Most of all, she loved her family with her whole heart. She will be missed more than words can say and remembered with so much love.

Fay is survived by her sons, Thomas A. Rinker and his wife Rosemary; Robert M. Rinker; and her grandchildren, Robert J. Rinker, Nicole Cadmus, and Shannyn Rinker-Damasco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick A. Metzgar and son, Steven A. Rinker. Brother, Joseph Sopko, his wife Mary; and her niece Melissa Sopko.
