Francis X. Keenan, 84, of Easton, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Country Meadows, Forks surrounded by family. Born on February 7, 1940, in Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of the late Harold and Elinor (Price) Keenan. He was a graduate of North Plainfield High School, class of 1958. He enlisted in the United States Army and served a tour in Germany before leaving the service in December, 1963. He met the love of his life, Diane, in Fredericksburg, VA, at his restaurant, The Latchstring. They married soon after and moved to Johnstown, NY, where Frank established himself as a salesman. He worked for Fisher Scientific throughout most of his professional career.
Frank's hobbies included fishing, tying flies, and golfing. He belonged to the Citizens' Hose Company and American Legion; Brown and Lynch Post 9. His favorite place to vacation was in Manasquan, NJ, where he spent time every summer with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved the Brooklyn Dodgers, eating lobster and blue crabs, and being surrounded by friends and family. Frank loved animals and often brought home a new family pet rescued from the animal shelter.
Francis is survived by his daughters, Kelly Mineo and husband, Mike; Kara Singley and husband, Marc; sister, Eleanor Lamperti; grandchildren, Matthew, Danny and Julia Mineo; Finn and Allie Singley. Francis was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Diane Keenan who passed away on October 17, 2024; and brothers, Harold and David Keenan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 132 South 5th Street, Easton, PA. Interment will follow at Forks Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Francis' name to The Center for Animal Health and Welfare 1165 Island Park Road, Easton, PA 18042.
