Franklin Wortman, 93, of Forks Twp., PA, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 in his home. He lived in PA since September 2006.

Frank was born on October 8, 1922 in Pottersville, NJ, a son of the late Vernon and Edith (Craig) Wortman.

Frank was the husband of Bernice (Durham) Wortman, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on January 24. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) where, in February 1944, he earned a BA degree in Journalism and a commission as an ensign from the Naval ROTC unit there. He served two auxiliary ships on the Atlantic and Pacific during World War II and was released as a Lieutenant junior grade in 1946. Frank was employed as an editor for 32 years with the former General Drafting Co., publisher of road maps and travel guides for petroleum marketers such as Exxon, until retirement. He also worked as a reporter for five years with the former active Newark Evening News. His principal interest in leisure activity was hiking. He hiked for 30 years with the Somerset (NJ) Hikers. He volunteered there for many years for SWIM, a group that provides free water exercise programs for partially disabled adults in local YMCA pools in several counties in NJ. Frank also enjoyed gardening around his home in Gladstone, NJ for 50 years, biking and camping with his family. He and his wife completed two round trips by auto to the West Coast in the late 80s and 90s.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by two sons: Craig and wife Joan and their daughter Virginia of Bethel, VT; David and wife Beth and their children Emma and Drew of Mount Bethel, PA; two daughters: Jill of High Bridge, NJ; Janice and her children Glenn and Heather.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp).
