Name: Fred J. Pellegrino, 91, of Palmer Twp., PA passed away Saturday September 19, 2009 in Gracedale.
Born: He was born June 16, 1918 in Easton, PA. He was the son of the late Philip and Lucie (Amato) Pellegrino.
Personal: Fred was married to the late Bessie Sechler who passed away in 1973. He owned the Fred Pellegrino Insurance Agency in Coplay, PA for more than 40 years. Fred was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 1504th Army Air Forces Base Unit. As a Staff Sergeant, he served in Guam and Okinawa working as a line chief inspecting, repairing, and maintaining C-54 aircrafts. He also supervised a crew of 6 mechanics that maintained the entire fleet of U.S. aircrafts.
He was a 1935 Wilson Area School District graduate
Memberships: Fred was also a very active member of the American Legion, Coplay Post 426 where he was a member since 1946. This was a very big part of his life and over the years Fred served in various capacities including, Post Commander, Lehigh County Commander, District Commander, and the Eastern Vice Commander.
Survivors: Fred is survived by his long time friend, Kathryn Earles, a brother, Samuel Pellegrino his wife Lucy of Forks Twp., PA, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by a brother, Anthony Amato and sisters, Josephine Garafalo, Fannie Goodstein, and Rose Green.
Services: A calling hour will be held Wednesday September 23, 2009 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm in the Morello Funeral Home 3720 Nicholas Street, Palmer Twp. PA. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held in the Northampton Memorial Shrine immediately following.
