Obituary

Giovanni "John" Lombardi, 76, of Palmer Twp. passed away on September 27, 2023 in his home. Born on March 29, 1947 in Pannarano, Italy, he was the son of the late Gennaro and Adriana (Miles) Lombardi.

John was 11 years old when he left Naples, Italy and arrived in New York Harbor with his mom and two sisters. John graduated from Bradford Area High School, class of 1966. At the age of 18, he was drafted into the United States Army and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was one of the few of his unit to volunteer for a second tour. He was a decorated war veteran and was proud to serve his country. He worked as a machinist for the former J & J Flock Products of Easton until he retired in 2006. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion, played clarinet in several marching bands but most of all, he was a devout Christian who lived his life for the Lord. John belonged to Cornerstone Evangelical Church. He and his lovely wife, Giuseppina "Josephine" (Pagnozzi) celebrated 42 years of marriage before her passing in 2014.

John is survived by his son, Gino Lombardi and his wife, Laura of Nazareth; daughters, Adriana Funari and her husband, Nicholas of Stockertown; Libera Lombardi of Palmer Twp.; Anna Loki and her husband, Lou of Forks Twp.; sister Filomena Linaberger; grandchildren, Giovanna Nicolette Funari, Nicholas James Funari, Jr., Leah Rose Lombardi, Giuseppina Lucia Loki, and Antonia Maria Loki.

In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Hayden.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Allentown Rescue Mission, 355 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18101.
