Obituary

Harriet M. McGuiness, 84 of Palmer Township passed away peacefully Saturday evening June 1, 2024, at the St. Luke's Hospice House on Black River Road in Bethlehem.

Harriet was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on May 9th, 1940, a daughter of the late David and Josephine (Nasser) Joseph. She graduated from G.A.R High School class of 1957 and spent her working career as an administrative assistant.

Harriet was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantel Roman Catholic Church, Easton. She also enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Easton and the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in Easton. She served on the Easton Hospital Women's Board. Harriet was an all-star bocce player and attended & supported her grandson's sporting events. Most recently Harriet was an active member of Glenmoor's over 55 community. She enjoyed being part of the book club, the garden club, the walking club, and the hospitality committee. Harriet was an avid reader. Most importantly, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her husband of 44 years, Michael F. McGuiness, and her sister, Judy Yelen.

Surviving is her daughter, Molly Scomillio and her husband, Victor E. Scomillio, Esq. of Palmer Township, brother & sister-in-law, David and Bonnie Joseph of Narberth, grandson, Lucca Michael Scomillio and extended family members.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday June 7, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Morello Funeral Home, 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, (Palmer Twp), PA. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:20 A.M. on Saturday in St. Jane Frances de Chantel Roman Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Easton PA 18045 Interment will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, 2575 Linden Street, Bethlehem PA 18017. Donations in memory of Harriet may be made to St. Luke's Brian D. Perin Hospice House or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com
