Harry G. Markow, Sr. 94, of Naples, FL, formerly of Easton, PA, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 in his son's home under the care of Family Pillars Hospice.
Harry was born in New York City, NY, a son of the late Basil and Justina (Hewko) Markow. He was married to the former Josephine A. Saccomando and they had celebrated their 70 th wedding anniversary the year prior to her passing in January of 2016. Harry had proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in an enemy air attack during the Allies' Invasion of Southern France. He worked in the signal department for the Lehigh Valley Railroad, later Conrail for 45 years before retiring in Florida.
Harry had a green thumb and took pride in his Florida gardens with his variety of fruit trees but most of all enjoyed spending time with his loving family. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, FL.
Harry is survived by his sons Harry G. Markow, Jr. and wife Diane of Newton, PA, Ignazio "Iggy" J. Markow and wife Heidi of Williams Twp.; a daughter Genevieve Mueller of Naples, FL; a brother Basil Markow and wife Roberta of Ocean NJ; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Due to the current COVID-19 virus pandemic, there will be a private service for the immediate family. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Williams Twp., PA, with military honors.
