Obituary

Henry Louis Scherer, 80, of Nazareth, PA formerly of Paterson and Bloomingdale, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Born on March 23, 1942, he was the son of Frank and Maria (Calvitti) Scherer. He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Stephanie DeFiori; his children, Scott Scherer and his wife, Katie; and Tracy Scherer Matino and her husband, Louis; his grandchildren, Cole, Kaitlin, Ava, Ryan and Matthew; sisters, Catherine Marks and Karen Grygus; brothers, Frank and Michael.

Henry grew up in Paterson, NJ and enlisted in the Navy as soon as he graduated Paterson Tech in 1960.   He served from 1960-1964 on the USS Tulare in the Pacific during the pre-Vietnam era as a Ship Fitter/Damage Control and rose to Petty Officer 2nd Class. After his honorable discharge, Henry earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 1978.

Scherer began working in the Mechanical Contracting field and became president/owner of Edwin Stipe, Inc from 1974-2019.  The company became a well-known, well respected and very successful business in the Easton, PA area with Customer Service at the forefront.

Scherer was a volunteer fireman for Bloomingdale, NJ for 20 years and Forks, PA for 19 years. He kept busy with his many memberships to the American Legion and NJ Master Plumbers.

During his leisure time, Henry loved boating and traveling. His favorite place was Bermuda.  He traveled there several times with family making long lasting memories. He was a fun, giving grandfather to his grandchildren and always there to teach a life lesson.  He loved a good meal with a good glass of wine!

Henry managed his illness with determined strength and wanted to spend time with his loved ones as much as possible.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp) followed by a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Henry's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
