Name: Jack E. Schafer, 83, of Palmer Twp., passed away Saturday, May 29th, in Easton Hospital.
Born: Jack was born on March 27th, 1927 in Easton, PA a son of the late Theodore Schafer and Isabel VanSyckle Davis.
Personal: Jack is survived by his wife Mary Passafiume Schafer with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 22nd. He was a plant manager at the former Shapiro and Son, later Avante textile mill in Easton. Jack later worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Northampton County until his retirement in 2008. He served as a signalman in the US Navy during WWII in the Atlantic theater of operations. He was a 1944 graduate of Easton high School. He was an avid Penn State Football fan.
Memberships: Jack was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Easton. He was a member of St. Anthonys Golden Age Club, the Liberty Hose and Fleas club of Easton.
Survivors: In addition to his wife Jack is survived by a son Jack A. Schafer and wife Cindi of Forks Twp., daughters Andrea Hayes and husband William of Chalfont, PA, Lisa Addis and husband Christopher of Strasburg, PA. , grandchildren Lauren, Kellie, Shauna, Cara, Michael, Annette, Austin, Emily and Evan and a niece Carol Picone.
Jack is preceded in death by a brother Michael Schafer and a sister Alice Hoadley.
Services: Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 6 pm 8 pm and also Wednesday from 8:15 am- 9:15 am in The Morello Funeral Home Inc. 3720 Nicholas St Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am in St. Anthony of Padua Church 9th and Lehigh St., Easton. Interment will be in St. Anthonys Cemetery Williams Twp. Memorial Contributions may be made to St Anthonys Church 900 Washington St. Easton PA 18042 or to the American Heart Association 212 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
