Obituary

Jack Stephen Tresslar, 16, of Crozet, VA and Easton, PA died unexpectedly at his home in Crozet, VA on September 18, 2021.

Jack was born in the Lehigh Valley in 2004 and lived in Williams Township until he was thirteen years old.  He attended Good Shepherd Christian Nursery School, Williams Township Elementary School, and Wilson Area Intermediate School.

Jack played club soccer and basketball.  He competed as a member of Middletown Archery, a Junior Olympic Archery Development Club in Middletown, Pennsylvania.  He played the drums in the middle school band and sang bass in the middle school chorus.  He took private voice lessons with Phil Diaz in Bethlehem and sang in a choir that performed around the Lehigh Valley.  He loved to dance.  He took dance classes at Art of Dance in Bethlehem, where he studied tap, hip-hop, and break dancing and performed onstage.  He studied drama at Pennsylvania Youth Theater in Bethlehem, where his favorite dramatic experience was playing the role of the young Ebenezer Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol."

He was a member of St. John's Church on Morgan Hill in Williams Township, where he enthusiastically participated in all aspects of religious life and organized community service projects to benefit children, the elderly, and struggling families.

In 2018, Jack's older brother was admitted to the University of Virginia, and Jack and his mother relocated to Crozet, Virginia to be near Jack's older brother.  Jack's father traveled to Crozet every weekend to be with the family.  Jack enrolled in eighth grade at Henley Middle School in Crozet and became an active member of Crozet Baptist Church.  He attended ninth through eleventh grade at Western Albemarle High School in Crozet, where he was a straight-A student and was captain of his JV wrestling team.  He had dozens of friends, who came and went from his home on a daily basis.  Jack loved wrestling and his wrestling teammates.  He was passionately devoted to health and fitness.  He diligently monitored his nutrition, visited the gym with his friends multiple times every day, and worked out tirelessly in a private gym that he and his father had created at home.  He was in the process of organizing a school weightlifting club.  Jack loved all things Japanese.  He was fluent in Japanese and traveled extensively around Japan with his family.  When he was fourteen years old, he lived in Fukuoka, Japan for a month with a host family while he attended a study-abroad program in Japanese language and culture.  He planned to attend the University of Virginia and pursue a career as a clinical psychologist.

Jack is survived by his parents, Jon Tresslar and Lisa Tresslar, his older brother, Jake Olsson, his grandmother, Elizabeth Tresslar, and his aunt, Jan Tresslar, of Pen Argyl, PA, his uncle, Jeffrey Tresslar, of Saylorsburg, PA, his aunt, Susan Gossett of Trumann, AR, his aunt, Cristi Naramore, of Maumelle, AR, and numerous cousins.
