Obituary

James Kostura, Jr. (Jim) of Palmer Township, PA passed away peacefully at home from pancreatic cancer on Monday, July 20, 2020, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

James was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late James and Clara (Szkeres) Kostura.

James was married to the former Jane Finelli, with whom he celebrated fifty (50) years of marriage in February 2020. He was a graduate of Easton High School's Class of 1958.

James proudly served his country in the United States Army in the European Theater, Survey Section of C Battery, 2 nd Howitzer Battalion, 34 th Field Artillery, Seventh Army, stationed at Nuremberg Germany during the Cold War of the 1950s and 1960s.

He worked as an Industrial Electrician for IBEW Local Union #367, served on the Executive Board of the Union, and taught electrical courses at Career Institute of Technology, Northampton Community College, Warren County Community College, and Warren Technical School until retiring in 2004.

James was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church of Easton, served as a Eucharistic Minister and a board member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Pantry. He was also active with the cancer support group and the RCIA program for twenty-six (26) years.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by sons James C. Kostura (Jimmy) and wife Elizabeth of Bangor, James Kostura III (Jamie) and wife Holly of Kintnersville; daughters Susan J. Kostura and partner Mark Neetz of Fogelsville, Mary Ann Kostura of Bethlehem, Nicole B. Hockenberry and husband Mark of Nazareth; a sister Edith Kostura of Easton; grandchildren Joshua Appleman, Sarah Jane Pierce, Jessica Cuttic, Erica Kostura and fiancé Victor Embardino, Zachary Davis and wife Becca, Alexis Davis, Isabella Davis, Julia Hockenberry, and Alan Hockenberry.

With loving gratitude, James honors his sister Edith, who selflessly traded her nursing career pursuits to raise him while also working full time at Dixie Cup in Easton, during their father's chronic illness and lifelong hospitalizations.

A Catholic Funeral Mass Requiem will be held at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Easton on Saturday July 25, 2020 at 10:30 AM with interment to follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Road, Easton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp).
