Obituary

James C. Zoccola, 89, of Easton, passed away on Saturday, November 14th, 2015 in the New Eastwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson Borough. Jim was born in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Cipriano and Filomena (Lombardizza) Zoccola. Jim was a research engineer at Bethlehem Steel for 33 years before retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Atlantic theatre of operations. He was a 1944 graduate of Easton Area High School, a 1950 graduate of Lafayette College with a B.S. in Engineering, and later graduated from Lehigh University with his masters degree. Jim was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and Lehigh Streets in Easton, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for his church. He attended church retreats for 30 years without missing a year. He also belonged to the Holy Name Society, the Serra Club, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the Knights of Columbus Union Council 345. Jim volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years in the Easton area. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, the former Josephine (Delvecchio) who passed away in 2013. He is survived by his children, James T. Zoccola of Wilkes-Barre, Jerry E. Zoccola and his wife Darlene of Williams Township, David A. Zoccola and his wife Cathy of Lancaster, Michael A. Zoccola of Manchester, MD, Joanie E. Newman and her husband Roger of Tryon, NC, and Sally Jo Dutkus and her husband Stanley of Branchville, NJ. In addition to his children he is survived by his sisters Margaret Feeley, Agnes Rounsaville, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. There will be no calling hours. Services are under the direction of the Morello Funeral Home Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton (Palmer Twp.), PA.
