"No time on earth is long enough to share with someone we love, or prepare us to say goodbye"
The Kassis family mourns the untimely loss of their precious daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and forever friend, Jeanette Kassis, 51, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. The spirit of her mother carried her home amidst many who loved her.
Jeanette was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on April 12, 1973, to Joseph and Barbara Shaheen Kassis and spent her entire life in a city that provided her with her greatest needs. She found in it, a place to be surrounded by all of her immediate and extended families who found their permanent homes here also; a place to worship and embrace her culture in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church and a career extending 28 years with the Easton Area School District, culminating as an assistant principal position for the last 20 years. Her preparation for this career began with her graduation in 1991 from Notre Dame High School Green Pond, a degree in Mathematics from the University of Scranton in 1995, and a Master's degree in secondary school administration from East Stroudsburg University. For Jeanette, this education prepared her for an outstanding career as a selfless leader whose dedication to education impacted countless students, staff, and families. During her career, she played a pivotal role in leading the school to accreditation, fostering a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement. Jeanette mentored several assistant principals, shaping future leaders, and built strong partnerships with parents and community stakeholders. Jeanette's legacy of compassion, mentorship, and commitment to student success will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to work alongside her.
Jeanette's greatest joys in life came from the time she spent with her cherished family and friends, but her heart belonged especially to her beloved nieces and nephews Joseph and Riley Pijut, and Geneva and Zackary Koorie. She poured her love into every moment with them, finding pure happiness in their laughter, milestones, and shared memories. To Jeanette, these relationships were her greatest treasures, and she held them close to her heart with boundless love and pride. She also found immense happiness in being part of a close-knit foursome of lifelong friends who had shared an unbreakable bond of love, support, and trust since their grade school days. These relationships were a source of joy and strength throughout her life.
Through their heartache, the grieving family will forever embrace the image of her beautiful face and smile surrounded by mounds of dark curls, her passion for perfection in whatever challenged her, and her place on earth as a shining, memorable beacon of humility, kindness, generosity, love and her undying faith in our Lord Jesus Christ whose teachings guided her throughout her earthly life. This legacy and spirit will forever inspire and guide all of us who knew and loved her.
Jeanette's precious family includes her father, Joseph, her sister Nancy and husband Craig Pijut and family, her sister Eva and husband Ferris Koorie and family, and much-beloved family living here on earth and in the House of God. In addition, she is survived by her only living uncle, Peter Shaheen and wife Patricia Shaheen and family, Aunt Nadia Maroon and family and Sanna Baurkot Godmother who was more like a second mother to Jeanette.
