Joan R. Averill , 78 of Palmer Twp. passed away peacefully in her home on Monday December 7th, 2009.

Born: She was born on March 11, 1931 in Chazy, NY a daughter of the late Francis and Hazel (Gordon) Russo.

Personal: She was preceded in death by her husband James S. Averill on January 19, 2001. Joan retired from the US Postal Service several years ago where she had been employed as a secretary. She was an avid reader and excellent cook. She was a 1949 graduate and valedictorian of Chazy Rural High School in NY., and also a graduate and valedictorian of Loretta Business School in Plattsburgh, NY.

Memberships: She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors: Joan is survived by her daughters Debra Clark of San Diego California, Christine Nicolosi and husband Louie of Palmer Twp.; grandchildren DruAnn Price and James Clark both of San Diego, Zachary Sewall and Brandon Sewall of Palmer Twp.; sisters Jackie Hichman of Sarasota, FL, MaryLou McKinney and Rosie Sullivan both of Plattsburgh, NY; an aunt Helen Breitenbach of Chazy, NY; and special caregivers Michelle, Jen, Linda, and Bonnie whom she grew very fond of over the years. A daughter Dominique Averill died in infancy.

Services: Friends and relatives may call Saturday from noon until the time of Joans memorial service at 12:30 PM in Bethel memorial Baptist Church 715 Chestnut Lane Easton, PA 18045. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Morello Funeral Home Inc, 3720 Nicholas St. Palmer Twp.
