Mrs. Joan Louise (Potenti) Hutchison, 92, of Salisbury, NC passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Joan was born September 27, 1931 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of the late John Potenti and the late Lydia (Kohn) Potenti. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church before moving to NC in 2005.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, C. Fred Hutchison and her brother, Jack Potenti.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia Kobylus and her husband Leonard Kobylus of Salisbury and James Hutchison and wife Teresa Hutchison of South River, NJ; sister, Patricia Bechtel, Easton, PA; grandchildren: Kristen Abernathy (Zach), Kourtney Garcia (Ron), Kelsey Pastrana (John) and Stacey Miscisin; and great-grandchildren: Justin Kobylus, Brandon Abernathy, Aiden Abernathy, Christian Batot, Diego Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, A.J. Pastrana, Johnnie Ausmus, Hallie Baier, and Shawn Miscisin.
Joan was a 1949 graduate of Easton Area High School. She worked for Binney and Smith, the Crayola Crayon Factory, and fulfilled her roles of teacher assistant, dental clerk, and receptionist for the Easton Area School District until her retirement in August of 1993. Joan fully embraced her vocation as a loving wife, mother, Nana, and GG. She was always available when her family and friends needed her the most, offering support and love in abundance. Joan was blessed with the spiritual gift of hospitality and was an outstanding cook and baker. All were welcomed into her home to share delicious food and fellowship. Joan was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue in the hearts of the lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
