John Donald DiVietro, 84, of Palmer Township, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Westminister Village, in Allentown.
He was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late Antonio and Anna (Stallone) DiVietro.
John was married to the former Linda Marino, of Morgan City, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Easton Area High School, class of 1955. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Geology from Tulane University in 1960. He was a Safety Supervisory for Shell Oil Company, in Louisiana, a Field Superintendent for Acoustical Spray Inc., and previously was the proprietor of Jet Car Wash in Easton for 18 years.
John was an avid fly fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed watching football and Easton wrestling. He was a two-time Allstate high school football player from Easton Area High School. He earned a 5 year full football scholarship to Tulane University. John was also an outstanding Easton Area High School wrestler, placing 1st place in both the district and regional competitions. He also placed 3rd in the PIAA state championships in 1955. John enjoyed making homemade wine and tomato sauce. He loved the home he built in Palmer Township, in 1967. He enjoyed gardening and various other activities around his home, as well as spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
John is survived by his daughters Paige Achuff of Springfield, Angela DiVietro of Palmer Township, a brother Mario DiVietro of Delray Beach, FL, grandchildren Mason McIntyre, Mario McIntyre, Matthew Achuff, Tyler Achuff; and a great-granddaughter, Jane Mae McIntyre. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Linda DiVieto, a sister Angelina Arangio; brothers Matteo, Nick, Anthony, and Sam DiVietro; and a grandson Ryan Achuff.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton PA (Palmer Township), followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township.
