John R. Jack Gallop, 82, of Palmer Twp., PA, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 in Easton Hospital.
Jack was born in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late William M. and Catherine (Loftus) Gallop.
Jack was married to the former Sylvia Rufe with whom he celebrated 23 years of marriage last November. He was a Vice-President of Sales for Hercules Cement before retiring in 2001. He received his Bachelors from St. Josephs University in Philadelphia and was inducted into the St. Josephs University Baseball Hall of Fame. He also played Professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. Jack was an all-around great athlete, loved golf and was a member of Northampton Country Club for over 40 years. He volunteered at The Crayola Factory for years, was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan, had an appreciation for art, and was an avid supporter and contributor to St. Judes. He proudly served in the US Army.
Jack was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Easton.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by sons John W. Gallop of Easton, James P. Gallop of Yardley, PA; daughters Kathleen M. MacDougall of Easton, Margaret H. Nigro of Las Vegas, NV; step-sons Ronald Woolf of Tucson, AZ, George Muretta of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Scott Woolf and wife Elena of Kutztown, PA; a step-daughter Pamela Garrity and husband John of Palmer Twp.; a sister Sally Farrell and husband Kirk of Newtown Square, PA; brothers William Gallop of Salt Lake City, UT, Robert Gallop of Upper Darby, PA; six granddaughters and five grandsons.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with an additional calling hour on Friday from 8:45 am to 9:45 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 am in St. Jane Frances Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Palmer Twp. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp.
