John William Griffiths III, 68, of Palmer Twp., PA passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem Campus, surrounded by his wife and children. Born on November 18, 1956 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of John William Griffiths, Jr. and the late Gladys Marie (Weber) Griffiths.
He graduated from Morris Knolls High School, class of 1974. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Military History in 1978 from Norwich University in Vermont. John proudly served his country in The United States Army from 1978 to 1996. While serving in the Army, John obtained his Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina in 1992.
In September, 1995, John married the love of his life, Judy. Together, they raised four wonderful children. John worked for the Department of Homeland Security/Customs and Boarder Protection for 31 years. He was a member of the Confederation of Union Generals. As a living historian, he had a passion for reenacting historical moments in Gettysburg and beyond. In his spare time, he constructed model tanks, airplanes and ships. Seventeen years ago, John founded the 4th of July Neighborhood Tractor Parade in Old Orchard.
In addition to his loving wife, Judy (Foster) Griffiths, John is survived by his father John William Griffiths, Jr.; children, Kelley Griffiths, John William Griffiths IV, Brendan Griffiths, and Erin Griffiths; and five siblings.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) A funeral service and military honors will follow at 2:00 PM. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com
