Name: John Shandick, 88 of Bath, PA passed away Wednesday June 16, 2010 in the VNA Hospice House of St. Lukes, Bethlehem. Born: He was born on October 5, 1921 in Homer City, PA a son of the late Michael and Mary Zukovich Chandik. Personal: John was preceded in death by his wife Virginia LaVerne Durst in April of 2007. He was employed as a welder and a coal miner. John served our country in the US Army as a Tech 5 receiving numerous medals including Good Conduct, American Defense, Service Medal, American Campaign, European-American Campaign, 2 Bronze Battle Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Memberships: He was a member of Lutheran Brethren Church of Mt. Bethel, PA Survivors: John is survived by a son, John R. Shandick of Bath, PA; daughters Mary C. Buzzuto of Bath, PA, Barbara A. Nixon of Rockaway, NJ; grandchildren Sarah, Rachel, Noah, Joshua, Gary, Rick and great-grandchildren Abagail, Brendan, Elizabeth, Seth and a sister-in-law Nancy Kessler of Bloomsburg, PA. A sister Julia Andritz preceded John in death. Services: A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 10:00am until 11:00am in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Palmer Twp.
