John Joseph "Bunny" Thomas passed away at home on October 16, 2023. John was born on March 25, 1940, the son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Martinkus) Thomas. He was married to Josephine (Scalzo) Thomas for 63 years and was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church.

John taught mathematics at Pius X High School, Phillipsburg Catholic High School, Easton secondary schools and Northampton Community College, where he was named Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2000. He served as an administrator in the Easton and Pen Argyl Districts. He coached football, basketball, and baseball at various times.

John graduated from Easton High School Class in 1957 and received his Bachelors Degree from East Stroudsburg State College. He received two National Science Foundation Grants to study mathematics at Southern Illinois University and Holy Cross College and received a Masters Degree from Lehigh University and continued his graduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a member of the Easton Area Schoolmen's Association, the Varsity E and a lifetime member of the Easton Red Rover Alumni Association. In 1995, he was named the EAHS Day Honoree. John attributed much of what he accomplished to his family, friends, coworkers and especially his students.

John enjoyed cooking, gardening, listening to music and collecting stamps. He was an avid fan of the Eagles, Phillies and Easton Red Rover teams. John played baseball, softball and basketball in several local leagues and tournaments throughout the years. He also attended every football game his grandson, Tyler, played in from the time he was a Little Rover until he graduated from Wilkes University.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, John T. Thomas (Louise) of East Pennsboro and Joseph J. Thomas of Easton; grandson, Tyler Thomas (Emily) of Forks; great granddaughter, Kennedy; sister, Loretta Herkalo (David) of Gainesville, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Judith Anne and brother, Robert.

Calling hour will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 55 South 4th Street, Easton, PA. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the church at 10:30 am followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, William Penn Hwy, Easton, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.)
