Joseph "Redeye" McAuliffe, 86, of Easton, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at home with his family by his side. Born in Easton on October 17, 1936, he was a son of the late James and Verna (Slingland) McAuliffe. He graduated from Easton High School and immediately after enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he began work at Ingersoll Rand where he was employed for 38 years.
"Redeye" was a member of numerous clubs, most notably Citizen Hose, Notre Dame Fan Club, where he was club president, and the Wilson Dems Club. He liked to bowl, play quoits and shuffle board. Joseph was a funny guy who loved an ice-cold Rolling Rock, could tell an excellent joke and was a master at card tricks. He was able to give anyone a good nickname that always stuck.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia (Long) McAuliffe, daughter, Kathy McAuliffe and her companion Brad Smith of Bethlehem, sister, Beverly Wells, of the Poconos.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Shirley Allen, Joan Murphy, Mary Andrews and brothers, James, Richard "Pud", William "Bill" McAuliffe.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Morello Funeral Home, Inc. 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton (Palmer Twp.). A Graveside service will take place on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Green Pond Rd, Easton.
