Joseph F. Ganssle, 97, of Easton, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 in Holy Family Manor – Bethlehem.

Joe was born in Hellertown, PA; he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Mary E. (Nicholas) Ganssle. He was the husband of the late Bertha (Betty) L. Kaschenbach.

He was a structural fitter and Foreman for Bethlehem Steel Company until 1976 and at Nazareth Steel for 7 years. Joe was a faithful member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, in Palmer Twp., where he served as a lector, Eucharist minister, usher ad adult altar server for many years. Joseph was a volunteer at Suburban Rescue Squad and a veteran of the United States Navy Air Corps; he served in WWII as a radio operator on the PBY Catalina in the pacific theater and was honorably discharged.

Joseph is survived by children, Frederick Ganssle and wife Betty Ann of Clovis, CA, Gerri and Husband David Helms of Titusville, FL, Thomas Ganssle and wife EiLeen of Palmer Twp., Joanne and Husband Richard Schaller, Sr. of Easton, Jeffrey Ganssle and wife Lynn of Maitland, FL, Sandra and husband Craig Vollman of Mt. Pleasant, NC; sisters, Audrey Cawley of Hellertown, PA and Marie Applegate of Perkasie, PA; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 75 years, Joe is preceded in death by sisters Regina Ganssle and Helen Adamek, and brothers, Ralph, Howard, Eldon, Raymond, and Wesley "Gus".

A calling hour will be held at 10:00 am on January 12th followed by a  Mass of Christian Burial  at 11:00 am in the Chapel  of  St. Jane Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Palmer Twp. Interment will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem, PA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp).
